Отцы-основатели Happy the Man радуют великолепным альбомом! Отличие от прежних — только в том, что этот песенно-ориентированный, но они и поют здорово!!

seaoftranquility.org:
Stan Whitaker and Frank Wyatt...two names that will forever be enshrined in progressive rock history as founding members of Happy the Man, one of the most beloved bands of the genre. While their main band is taking a little break from recording and touring, Whitaker and Wyatt have written and recorded Pedal Giant Animals, a little side project that has apparently been a few years in the works, with the help of bassist Peter Princiotto (However) and drummer Chris Mack (Illuvatar).....

ProgArchives:
One of the many fantastic, obscure European progressive bands to be unearthed and made available to the prog-buying public is ASIA MINOR, who only released two very small-time albums in the late '70s. This band took a more unusual twist on the genre popularised by CAMEL, with a mostly instrumental rock (what lyrics there are, are sung in a strangely accented English), with folk and ethnic influences, featuring much flute, guitar and keyboards.
-----The two albums are "Crossing The Line" and "Between Flesh and Divine", the latter one is absolutely essential. Whereas the similarly dreamy French progressive PULSAR drew on PINK FLOYD and KING CRIMSON influences. Excellent and original, indispensable for all lovers of Progressive rock.

Erik Neuteboom:
The Spanish band ATILA was formed in ’73 by Eduardo Biebla (guitar), Joan Punyet (drums) and Paco Ortega (keyboards), soon several personnel changes followed. This legendary and highly acclaimed progrock band made three LP’s: "The Beginning Of The End" (’75), "Intencion" (’76) and "Reviure" (’77). At the end of ’78 the band dissolves but in ’99 they reformed with Joan Punyet (drums), Benet Nogue (keyboards), Ignasi Bosch (guitar), Pere Martinez (bass) and Joan Cardoner (guitar). In the same year this ATILA line-up did a reunion-concert, playing their best material. The sound of ATILA has elements from VANILLA FUDGE, CREAM, The NICE and ELP but in general ... it’s ATILA!
The remastered second album "Intencion" (considered as their best) and a concert from ’99 are put on 1-CD (entitled "Atila: Intencion + Reviure"), this is a treat for the lovers of ‘vintage-keyboards’ (Hammond, Moog, Mellotron) with some mindblowing moments (swirling organ and fat Moog runs) but the guitarwork is also worth listening, a bit harder-edged but very inventive, at some moments with a Spanish flavour. The songs from the live-concert (’99) are more original and belong to the best Spanish progrock ever made: intense, compelling and exciting climates and shifting moods (a bit like the Italian IL BALLETTO DI BRONZO but less complex) with lots of great solos. "Reviure" is a masterpiece for the fan of Continental European progressive music. BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!!!

folkmusic.net:
Some of us spent the early Seventies in a haze of smoke and staggered about under the influence of various other illegal substances. As a result, we have a similarly hazy memory of the plethora of artistes who worked up and down the Folk Circuit. But you'd have needed to be COMATOSE for several years in order for Decameron not to have made an impact on you. From 1972-1975 they were possibly the biggest "box-office" band (Steeleye and Fairport excepted) performing under the FOLK banner...

The German based band Emergency was founded in 1970 by Czech musician Hanus Berka, who already had a career as an arranger and sideman in the States among others with Jan Hammer and Miroslav Vitous. The multicultural band consisted of Berka (sax & keyboards) fellow Czechs Jiro Matousek (keyboards), Otto Bezloja (bass) and Dusko Goykovic (trumpet), German drummer Udo Lindenberg and Englishman Barrie Newby on guitar.
The band recorded two jazz-rock records with brass arrangements for CBS. ‘Emergency’ (1971) and in 1972 ‘Entrance’ with a changed line-up.
In the summer of ‘72 the band split up, only to be reformed in December of the same year with a complete new line-up: Berka, Peter Bischof (ex-Orange Peel, lead vocals), Richard Palmer-James (ex-King Crimson lyricist, guitar& vocals) Jerzy Ziembrowski (bass), Veit Marvos (ex-2066 &Then, keyboards), Martin Harrison (percussion) and Bernd Knaak (drums). The new line-up secured a record deal with Brain and recorded two commercially oriented records ‘Get out To the Country’ (1973) and ‘No Compromise’ (1974) the last again with a changed line-up. Both records present jazz-rock with blues and soul elements. Afterwards the band folded for good.

progweed.net, Greg Northrup :
The Rotters Club is definitely one of the definitive "Canterbury" albums, a sub-genre of progressive rock that was decidedly jazzier, more instrumentally based and featured a more humorous, less-pretentious take on everything. The serious musical chops and tongue-in-cheek attitude fenced off many of these groups from the kind of criticism that more theatrical contemporaries like Yes and Genesis were being pummelled with. Hatfield & the North were on the forefront of this movement, carrying some already distinguished musicians from the likes of Caravan, Matching Mole and Egg. Rotters Club was their second album and is a monster of jazz infected progressive rock, made up of great extended jams and phenomenal musicianship from all parties......

Magdalena was a band, that was formed during a progressive rock boom in Japan. The most characteristic parts of their music was the long guitar and keyboard parts, as well as the strong but at the same time very high voice of the female singer. Their music contained mostly symphonic ballads, melodious rock songs and pieces that reminded the baroque era.
